Keeping New Hires Safe

With unemployment and workers compensation costs rising, we can't be too careful. Worker's safety is a real concern as employers are trying to fill vacancies with the best candidate. Proper training is of the utmost importance for new employees as well as temporary employees. Employees may get passed through orientation quickly and have a lack of proper safety training and orientation to the job. As you all know, this is a very real concern for you, the client, the temporary service and most importantly, the injured worker and his/her family.

According to OSHA, insufficient safety training showed to be the reason for two-thirds of the injuries at a company that failed to provide proper safety training and safeguarding.

Remember, if a temporary employee is injured on the job and results in a OSHA recordable injury, it is recorded on the OSHA 300 log of the employer providing direct supervision. The temporary service is liable for the workers compensation, but the injury is on the clients injury record (OSHA logs).
