What is SEEK's attendance policy?
If you are going to be late or cannot report to your assignment, call at least one hour before the assignment start time. SEEK recognizes three categories of absences.

Approved Absences. These absences must be reported in advance to a SEEK consultant and documentation must be provided when appropriate. These absences may include bereavement, jury duty and witness duty, military duty, parental leave, family or personal illness or on-the-job-injury. These are unpaid absences.

Regular Absences. These absences will be recorded on all employees attendance records. Documentation may be required. These absences may include illness, non-work related injury or personal issues, such as flat tires, cars not starting, late busses, court appearances, etc. These absences MUST be reported to your SEEK consultant prior to the start time of your assignment. If you incur regular absences, you will be counseled by your SEEK consultant. Second and third occurrences can result in Reminder/Warning letters or probation. SEEK Careers/Staffing views 6 absences in a 12- month period as excessive, and this practice can lead to termination.

Unexcused Absences. An unexcused absence occurs both when an employee does not report to his/her assignment at his/her start time and does not contact SEEK to explain the reason for the absence. SEEK Careers/Staffing feels that any incident of "no-call, no-show" is the most serious absence possible. Any instance of an Unexcused Absence can result in a 30- or 60-day Probationary Period. Additional or second Unexcused Absences can result in Disciplinary Suspension or Termination for Cause.

What happens if my assignment ends?
At the end of each assignment, you must notify your SEEK consultant that the assignment has ended; or you will be viewed as a voluntary quit. At this time, your consultant will discuss other possible assignments to ensure that you will have the opportunity to work within 7 days. If you refuse an assignment that is similar to your prior assignment, it may be viewed as a voluntary quit. While you are waiting for another assignment, you are required to contact your consultant Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Does SEEK have a non-solicitation policy?
In order to maintain a proper business environment and to prevent interference with work, SEEK Careers/Staffing employees are prohibited from making any solicitations during working hours or to solicit any other worker while that person is working. SEEK employees are prohibited from distributing literature of any kind in working areas during working hours. Non-employees are prohibited from distributing printed materials or soliciting on SEEK premises at any time.

What do I do if I get hurt at work?
Notify a job site supervisor or manager as well as your SEEK consultant immediately if you are injured on the job. At the time of your first medical treatment, you will be required to submit to a drug/alcohol/controlled substance test. It is your responsibility to remind the doctor or clinic of this requirement. Failure to cooperate with a specimen collection procedure could be grounds for termination.

SEEK has established a referral system with health care clinics and hospitals throughout Wisconsin. If you do not have a health care provider, you may choose to use one of these providers. These treatment facilities work closely with SEEK to assure prompt, professional care for any work related injury. A list of hospitals and clinics can be found by clicking hereor at the back of your employee handbook.

If an injury occurs, SEEK will make every effort to provide 40 hours of work within your doctor's restrictions. SEEK has an aggressive Early-Return-to-Work Program. With several hundred client companies available, light duty work stations can usually be found, thus preventing our employees from losing time on the job.

The submission of false workers' compensation claims; such as injuries actually occurring at home, reporting injuries when there are not injuries or prolonging an injury after it has healed is punishable under Wisconsin Criminal Statutes (Sec. 943.395).

What is SEEK's harassment policy?
SEEK is an equal opportunity employer committed to maintaining a workplace free from all forms of illegal discrimination. It is our policy to provide equal opportunity in employment for all qualified persons. Discrimination in employment on the basis of age, race, creed, color, disability, marital status, sex, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, arrest record, conviction record, military service, or use or nonuse of lawful products off the employers premises during nonworking hours as defined by law is absolutely prohibited.

In addition, it is our objective to maintain a work environment that is free from sexual/gender and other unlawful harassment.

Any SEEK employee who initiates or participates in illegal discriminatory or harassing conduct will be subject to immediate disciplinary action, which may include termination.

All incidences of discrimination or sexual/gender harassment must be reported immediately, either verbally or in writing, to your supervisor and your consultant, the Human Resources Team Leader, the Legal Affairs Director or the President of SEEK Careers/Staffing.

Complaints will be handled in the strictest confidence possible. All complaints will be investigated thoroughly, and the employee initiating the complaint will be informed of the progress during the investigation. The company will take corrective and disciplinary action to remedy and stop all violations of these policies, up to and including dismissal, where there is justification for that action, . No employee will be subject to any form of retaliation or discipline for pursuing a harassment complaint.

What is SEEK's substance abuse policy?
SEEK contends that a drug/alcohol-free work environment is vital to the safety and well being of all of its employees. To this end, SEEK Careers/Staffing fully endorses the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

  • You will not unlawfully make, possess, use, sell, distribute or purchase illegal drugs or controlled substances on the job or off the job. You will not consume alcohol on the job or during the hours preceding the job.

  • You will provide notice to your SEEK consultant regarding any criminal for convictions on drug, alcohol or controlled substance related offenses that you may incur while applying to or working with SEEK Careers/Staffing. Notice to your SEEK consultant must be given within two days of conviction. Failure to give notice will result in your termination from SEEK.

  • You have been informed and understand that SEEK requires a drug, alcohol and controlled substance screening

    • prior to employment if our client of if SEEK Careers/Staffing requests such test(s).

    • at any time during employment if SEEK Careers/Staffing or its client requests such a test(s) and

    • always in the event of a Workers Compensation related injury when that injury requires the assistance of a health care professional.

The presence of illegal drugs, alcohol or controlled substances in the workplace jeopardizes the health and safety of you, our clients and their employees and the general population. Therefore, if you are found in violation of the above policy you will be removed immediately from the assignment and terminated for six months. Should you be terminated, you must fully pass a "return to work" drug, alcohol and controlled substance screen in order to be again eligible for an assignment. An additional drug, alcohol and substance abuse screen will be scheduled sometime between three weeks and three months after reinstatement. If you test positive at this time, you will be terminated for cause and will be ineligible for rehire. Failure to or refusal to take a drug, alcohol or controlled substances test will be grounds for dismissal. This is a summary statement of SEEK's drug policy. For a complete copy of this policy, contact your consultant.

What do I do if I have a problem?
SEEK understands that occasionally situations could occur which are unusual. These policies do not cover all possible situations which may happen. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly and your circumstances are special, you may ask to discuss the problem with SEEK's Human Resources Team Leader. You will have an opportunity to fully discuss the situation. SEEK's Human Resources Department is located at its corporate headquarters in Grafton, Wisconsin.
